The Sculptures of Mark Bradford Come to Life During This Stunning Exhibit
Are you looking from something to do this weekend? Through June 30th, Five Points Museum of Contemporary Art will be exhibiting the sculpture of Mark Bradford.
Known by his nickname, “Scrapdaddy”, Bradford’s work has been exhibited in museums around the world. He has worked in Texas for over three decades drawing upon the scrapped and discarded remains of commerce and industry and transforming them into creatures, vehicles and other sculpture that is recognizable in its source material yet completely novel in its repurposing.
Mark Bradford, a Houstonian for the past thirty-nine years, has had quite a diverse career in art. Having a great-grandfather that was an inventor, Mark caught the "creativity bug" at a very early age. Featured in the parade in years past, Bradford’s walking contraptions, otherworldly beings and wall sculptures will be on display inside the museum, inviting everyone to see up close how Bradford takes discarded scrap metal and gives it new life.
There will also be kids’ crafts areas hosted by MAP and refreshments. Museum admission is always free. We encourage you to check out the sculpture of Mark Bradford while you can!
At Autumn Park Apartments in Victoria, Texas, we believe it’s important to integrate yourself into the community, which is why we suggest attending this event. Meeting new people, having unfamiliar experiences, and joining neighborhood activities is the key to an exceptional lifestyle.
