Visit A True Cultural Art Hub in Victoria to See the Astonishing Sculpture of Mark Bradford
Located in Victoria, Texas, Five Points Museum of Contemporary Art was founded to give the Victoria and South Texas community broad access to contemporary art by national and regional artists and curators while celebrating and drawing upon the cultural diversity of South Texas. The museum serves as an art and cultural nexus that reflects that rich history and promising future of South Texas.
Through June 30, the museum will be exhibiting the sculpture of Mark Bradford. Known by his nickname, “Scrapdaddy”, Bradford’s work has been exhibited in museums around the world. He has worked in Texas for over three decades drawing upon the scrapped and discarded remains of commerce and industry and transforming them into creatures, vehicles and other sculpture that is recognizable in its source material yet completely novel in its repurposing.
Featured in the parade in years past, Bradford’s walking contraptions, otherworldly beings and wall sculptures will be on display inside the museum, inviting everyone to see up close how Bradford takes discarded scrap metal and gives it new life. There will also be kids’ crafts areas hosted by MAP and refreshments.
Five Points Museum of Contemporary Art is dedicated to furthering arts education in the community through supplemental and extracurricular programs coordinated with area school districts and other institutions. The museum is independently funded, and admission is always free of charge for visitors.
We encourage you to stop by to view the astonishing sculpture of Mark Bradford!
